About Kung Fu
What Is Kung Fu?

In dealing with the recently popularised concept of Kung Fu, it should be explained that Kung Fu is NOT a martial art unto itself, but that it encompasses an effective and powerful method of self defence, health, philosophy, and a code of values essential for life.

Kung Fu requires the practitioner to have physical and mental self-discipline unparalled in western pursuits. It is an all-encompassing concept that defines Kung Fu. It is a misconception that it is "just" a method of fighting.

To be adept, one must follow the Tao, the way, the essence of the philosophy of life, coupled with the desire to learn, the will to discipline oneself, and devotion to practice. What elevates Kung Fu above other martial systems, can be described as something of such magnitude, force, power, focus and energy, it is the core of Kung Fu: Chi.

Chi can be described as intrinsic energy, focused to such great effect, that, when used properly, invigorates the body so that energy is not wasted, rather harnessed. Essential to movement in Kung Fu are Chi controlled actions. Compared to other systems it is fluid, smooth and graceful, and not rigid or forceful. By using this universal energy, one can dramatically increase one's abilities many times over.

Lung Ying Dragon Sign Kung Fu was one of the first Kung Fu forms and this is why Lung Ying is so highly revered and respected.
