are no formal exams or gradings to go through.
Q What is a true Shaolin martial art?
A Originally there were 106 separate styles of Kung Fu
registered in the Shaolin Temples. These separate styles existed within
the temples up until the 1960’s (start of the Cultural Revolution
in China). In the late 1970’s, the Chinese government encouraged
the restarting and development of Kung Fu training in the temples again
and this is known as the New Shaolin. New Shaolin incorporates aspects
of the old individual styles into a new single style, also known as Wu
Shu. Lung Ying is one of the oldest Kung Fu styles on the old Shaolin
register that is still practiced in the world today.

A Yes – the style can be learnt equally well by
either men or women.

A Yes. However, anyone can learn it, if they are prepared
to make the effort.

No. In Shaolin it is believed that competition is a cause of negative
feelings between students and so is to be avoided.
Q When will I learn to use weapons?
A While there is weapons training in the style, this
is very advanced training and normally a student would have to be learning
the style for
several years before reaching this point
