About Kung Fu
The Dragon
The Dragon is considered a benevolent creature; the custodian of rain, rivers and lakes, the harbinger of good fortune, and the symbol of energy in Chinese mythology. The Dragon is said to have the body of a snake, the face of a horse, the antlers of a deer, scales of a fish and the beard of a goat. So powerful did the image of the Dragon become, that it was adopted by every Chinese dynasty as the Imperial emblem.
The Dragon is inner strength, spirit, flexibility, and fluidity of movement, moving in the Dragon stance develops internal energy and is the foundation of Lung Ying Kung Fu. A strong stance is a prerequisite of the style and is characterised as a zig-zag movement that mimics the motion of the mythical animal. Smaller strides are used to compliment the system's short range combat style.
